Opening cermony of WOCOME

Wale Oke College of Missions and Evangelism is an interdenominational cross-cultural training arm of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries located in the city of Ibadan.

The Beginning

As a result of clustered Christ Life Churches in Ibadan without adequate spread, our father-in-the-Lord, Bishop Francis Wale Oke out of concern went to seek the face of God where he was directed to now focus on the work of missions having done crusades since inception of the ministry.

In the process of prayerfully considering the directive given to him by God, he was led to his spiritual father, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God for counsel. God began to speak to him about establishing a mission school, and he started planning for this as an obedient servant. This went on for about two years.

Daddy Wale Oke raised a team tagged “Strategic Implementation Committee (SIC)” headed by Pastor Adeolu Jaiyesimi to see to the preparation for the establishment of the mission school to be called “Wale Oke School of Missions and Evangelism (WOSOME).

In process of time, Daddy Wale Oke came in contact with Dr Joel Oke, the Provost of the Redeemed College of Mission, Ede. While He was pondering prayerfully over whom to head the school, he was led to his spiritual father again to request for an official of the Redeemed College of Mission, Ede. Pastor E.A. Adeboye was magnanimous to grant his request and he released the deputy provost of the mission college at Ede to serve as the pioneer Rector of the institution.

Inauguration

The preparation for the mission school began at the turn of 2020 with strong admission drive in all major divisions of Christ Life Church.

By February 2020, all the management staff of the college were appointed, the name of the school was also changed to “Wale Oke College of Missions and Evangelism”, and admission process began at the college situated at Bishop’s Court, Olubadan Estate, Ibadan which happens to be the personal house of the visioneer – Daddy Wale Oke where he was living until the inauguration of the school.

On the 22nd of March, 2020 Wale Oke College of Missions and Evangelism was inaugurated with 32 students admitted but only 11 students resumed (which later increased to 22 after the COVID-19 lockdown).

Why Mission College?

Considering the word of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 9:37-38 that the harvest is truly plenteous but the laborers are few. Our father-in-the-Lord when clarifying the passage said Pastors and workers are plenty but those who will roll up their sleeves and move to the mission field are extremely few.

There are existing mission schools but the missionaries they are producing are not enough to cater for the need while some of them are not even the type that God can use because they are either not well prepared or unfit for use, hence the need for the establishment of Wale Oke College of Missions and Evangelism.
